WORLD

We have developed the following strategies and priorities for missions around the world:
• Sending missions teams to assist with construction, medical needs or evangelism
• Praying diligently and consistently for our missionaries
• Developing a closer relationship of our missionaries
• Raise more missions dollars by continuing to inspire and challenge our congregation through exposure to missionaries on a monthly basis, printing a quarterly missions newsletter and encouraging involvement in our annual missions convention held each year with these goals in mind.

WORLD MISSIONS
Our church family currently supports approximately 300 missionary families serving in 84 countries. The financial support for these missionaries is made possible by the generous giving of the people at Des Moines First Assembly. Our World Ministries Board meets monthly to pray for the missionaries and stay updated on what they are doing on the field.

Each year, we host a Missions Convention, where we focus on outreach.  Our 2010 Convention is October 2-10..

U.S. HOME MISSIONS
Currently, we assist 10 Chi Alpha college campus missionaries, along with North Central University, Evangel University, Central Bible College, Trinity Bible College and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.

CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY
In addition, Des Moines First supports a Free Medical Clinic each Thursday and a Food Pantry each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We also partner with Hope Ministries, Bethany Christian Services, Hiatt Middle School, Wildwood Hills Ranch and Royal Family Kids Camp. All are programs/ministries that enable us to “hug our community” as we reach out to people right here in Des Moines and Central Iowa.

MISSIONS TRIPS
We also partner with our missionaries through short term missions outreaches. In 2010, we will send a team to Colombia to help build the Medellin Bible School, to Chicago and its surrounding area (outreach for our high school students) and to Waxahachie, Texas to Southwestern Assemblies of God University (outreach for our middle school students)
