ENDOWMENT FUNDMoney given today to impact future generations to become healthy followers of Christ.
It may sound too good to be true, but the Des Moines First Assembly M6:20 Legacy Circle that does just that.
Our endowment fund provides perpetual, sustaining financial support for ministries that fit our church's mission. These are religious and charitable efforts that are above and beyond activities normally supported through our regular tithes, offerings and missions giving.
In other words, the Endowment Fund enables us to partner with other Christian faith-based organizations to impact our community, central Iowa and the world for Christ.
HOW THE FUND WORKS Donations received for the Endowment Fund are invested to produce income for the Fund. Only the income those investments to be granted out to worthy cause. The original principal and capital appreciation are never touched.
Grant requests are reviewed by a the Endowment Fund committee (appointed by our Deacon Board). If the committee agrees that the proposed project will will advance our church's mission and influence for Christ, they will forward the request to the Deacon Board with a funding recommendation for approval. (Read more about requesting grants.)
CONTRIBUTING TO THE FUND Contributions can be made at any time and in any amount. This includes:
WHAT THE FUNDS SUPPORTS
One example of a project that has received grant approval is an outdoor patio area at Sunstream Campground. The patio was constructed for the existing concession building at the campground. The $4,000 grant allowed for continued improvements and efforts to upgrade the campground that had little to no improvements over 30 years. Sunstream ministers to several hundred students every year at week-long camps, with an emphasis on biblical teaching and spiritual growth.
Another example is the $1,000 grant to Blessman Ministries in South Africa. Blessman Ministries will use the money to start a sewing ministry as an outreach to the community that will empower local volunteers and create a self-sustaining environment in Limpopo, South Africa.
